Urbex Hub is built for people who enjoy discovering, learning about and sharing abandoned, historic and unusual places.

We care about privacy. We try to collect only what we need to run the site, keep it safe, manage community features, handle submissions, respond to messages and improve the experience for visitors.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Third-party services

We may use trusted third-party services to help run Urbex Hub.

These may include services for:

  • website hosting
  • security and performance
  • analytics
  • maps
  • embedded videos
  • email and newsletters
  • spam prevention
  • social sharing
  • payments or donations

Third-party services may process personal information on our behalf or as separate controllers under their own privacy policies.

Examples may include services such as hosting providers, Cloudflare, Google services, YouTube, map providers, OpenStreetMap-related tools, Gravatar, newsletter providers, payment or donation providers, and social media platforms, depending on which features are active on the site.

We try to choose reliable services, but we do not control every third-party website or platform. If you click an external link or use an embedded feature, that third party may collect and use data under its own terms and privacy policy.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it.

The exact period depends on the type of information and why we collected it.

As a general guide:

Type of informationHow long we usually keep it
Account informationWhile your account is active, then for a reasonable period after closure where needed for security, moderation or legal reasons
Public submissions, comments, reviews and reportsUntil removed, deleted, unpublished, anonymised or no longer needed
Map locations linked to deleted accountsAnonymised when the account is deleted, unless deletion is requested
Contact emails and support messages180 days, unless we need to keep them longer for an unresolved issue, legal reason, safety concern or dispute
Newsletter informationUntil you unsubscribe or we clean inactive lists
Analytics information30 days
Security and error logsUsually for a limited period needed for security, debugging and abuse prevention
Legal, moderation or dispute recordsAs long as reasonably needed to protect rights, comply with law or handle claims
BackupsUntil overwritten or deleted through our normal backup cycle

If you ask us to delete information, we will review the request and remove what we reasonably can, unless we need to keep something for legal, security, moderation, safety or record-keeping reasons.

Account deletion

Where account features are available, you can delete your account through your Urbex Hub dashboard.

You can also contact us at hello@urbexhub.com if you need help with account deletion or cannot access your dashboard.

Deleting your account may remove or anonymise account details, but it may not automatically remove all public content you submitted.

For example, published reports, comments, reviews, photos or location information may need to be reviewed separately, especially where removing them would affect community context, moderation records, safety, legal records or other users’ content.

When an account is deleted, map locations connected to that account are anonymised unless you specifically ask us to delete them. This means the location may remain on Urbex Hub, but it should no longer be linked to your account details.

If you want specific content, comments, reports, reviews, photos or map locations removed or corrected, contact us at: hello@urbexhub.com

Your rights

You have rights over your personal information.

Depending on the situation, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • ask us to delete information
  • ask us to restrict how we use information
  • object to certain uses of information
  • ask for information in a portable format
  • withdraw consent where we rely on consent
  • complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office

To make a request, email: hello@urbexhub.com

We may need to ask for information to confirm your identity before dealing with a request.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information.

This may include using secure connections, access controls, backups, security tools, updates, monitoring and other practical safeguards.

No website or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If we become aware of a security issue that affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps.

Children and young people

Urbex Hub is not aimed at children.

If you are under 18, please think carefully before submitting public content, location information, photos, comments or contact details.
