About Us

A Trip Down Urbex Memory Lane: How Urbex Hub Began!

We’re a group of writers, photographers, and history lovers from Northern Ireland who all share a passion for exploring abandoned and neglected places. Over the years we’ve travelled around the world, capturing stories, histories, and photos from places that have been forgotten.

It all began in September 2018 during a memorable week in Ukraine, visiting the incredible yet haunting Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. That trip sparked our love for urbex, and we’ve been exploring and documenting places ever since.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2021, we became aware of a worrying increase in vandalism and arson at many abandoned locations. Concerned about these threats, we launched Urbex Hub as a way to preserve the stories of these places for future generations.

We’re always on the lookout for new locations to explore. If you know of a deserted building or neglected site with a story to tell, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you and consider it for our next adventure.

Photographer & Tech Lead

Joe is a writer and photographer from Northern Ireland and the behind‑the‑scenes organiser at Urbex Hub. He handles route planning and logistics and also keeps the Urbex Hub website running smoothly, ensuring their explorations are shared without a hitch.

At Urbex Hub, Joe brings technical know‑how and a photographer’s eye to exploring abandoned places. For Joe, the adventure starts long before anyone sets foot in an abandoned building – whether he’s packing the kit for a pre‑dawn start or mapping out a route to a hidden location.
